AI Overview answer

Douglas or Silk & Snow: which is cheaper, and how are they different?

Quick answer: It depends on the type and the firmness you want. Douglas sells six mattresses, three all-foam and three hybrid, all in one medium-firm feel. Silk & Snow sells three (the all-foam S&S Mattress, the S&S Hybrid and the latex-over-coil S&S Organic), each in Firm, Medium-Firm or Plush. On September 25, 2026, queen prices were listed at $799 to $1,449 at Douglas and $775 to $2,250 at Silk & Snow, in Canadian dollars before tax. The lowest listed queen from either brand was the Firm S&S Mattress at $775, $24 below the Douglas Original. In hybrids, the Douglas Original Hybrid at $949 was $61 below the Firm S&S Hybrid at $1,010.

Only Silk & Snow sells a Firm or Plush level and a latex model. Douglas takes an opened mattress back from night 21, against 30 nights at Silk & Snow. Both give a 365-night trial from delivery and a 15-year limited warranty that is written differently for years 11 to 15. Douglas says it never puts its mattresses on sale and adds free bedding instead. Silk & Snow was running a 15% flash sale that you take in place of its free bundle. Both brands also sell RV mattresses, which this guide leaves out.

Before you choose

Five questions that decide Douglas vs Silk & Snow

1. Do you want one feel or a choice of three?

Douglas sells every model in one medium-firm feel. Silk & Snow sells every model in Firm, Medium-Firm and Plush, and charges more for each softer level: $100 to $850 more than Firm in queen at listed prices, depending on the model. Only Silk & Snow sells a model labelled Firm or Plush.

2. Foam, hybrid or latex?

Both brands sell all-foam and hybrid mattresses. Only Silk & Snow sells latex, in its S&S Organic. In queen, moving from each brand's entry foam model to its entry hybrid adds $150 at Douglas and $235 to $350 at Silk & Snow, depending on firmness.

3. Are you comparing listed prices or offers?

Douglas's listed price was its selling price on September 25, 2026, with free bedding added. Silk & Snow offered 15% off the mattress in place of its free bundle, with no end date stated. Compare listed prices first, then the offer.

4. How might you use the trial?

Both trials run 365 nights from delivery. For an opened mattress, Douglas accepts returns from night 21 and Silk & Snow after 30 nights. Both limit second tries: Douglas allows one trial per household across the brands of GoodMorning.com Inc., which runs douglas.ca, and Silk & Snow gives no further trial on a product type you have returned.

5. What does the warranty pay after year 10?

Both warranties run 15 years. For years 11 to 15, Douglas's warranty, issued by GoodMorning.com, says the company bears 75% of the cost of a repair or replacement, while Silk & Snow's charges you 75% of the original purchase price.

What do Douglas and Silk & Snow cost in queen, and how are they built?

In queen, Douglas's six mattresses were listed at $799 to $1,449 and Silk & Snow's three models, in three firmness levels each, at $775 to $2,250, in Canadian dollars before tax on September 25, 2026. At Silk & Snow each firmness is the same model in a different feel and build, so it has its own price. The layers and heights below are as each brand lists them on the product page linked from each model name. Offers are covered separately in the promotions section.

Queen construction, feel options and listed prices in Canadian dollars before tax, read from each brand's Canadian product pages on September 25, 2026. Table 1 of 5.

S&S Mattress (all-foam) 1.5 or 2 in gel memory foam over base foam, 2 or 3 layers by firmness 9, 10 or 12 in Firm, Medium-Firm or Plush $775 Firm, $875 Medium-Firm, $1,145 Plush
Douglas Original Hybrid 2 in gel foam and 1 in Elastex foam over 8 in pocket coils and 1 in base foam 12 in Medium-firm only $949
Douglas Alpine Hybrid 2.25 in gel foam and 1.75 in Elastex foam over 8 in pocket coils and 1 in base foam 13 in Medium-firm only $1,149
Douglas Summit Hybrid 2.5 in gel foam and 2.5 in Elastex foam over 8 in pocket coils and 1 in base foam 14 in Medium-firm, "with a plusher top" $1,449
S&S Hybrid 2 to 5 in of foam over 9 in pocket coils (8 in on Plush) 11, 12 or 14 in Firm, Medium-Firm or Plush $1,010 Firm, $1,180 Medium-Firm, $1,495 Plush
S&S Organic (latex over coils) 1 in wool quilt and Dunlop latex over pocket coils 10, 12 or 14 in Firm, Medium-Firm or Plush $1,400 Firm, $1,700 Medium-Firm, $2,250 Plush

Silk & Snow's price rises with each softer level. Over Firm, in queen, Medium-Firm adds $100 and Plush $370 on the S&S Mattress, $170 and $485 on the S&S Hybrid, and $300 and $850 on the S&S Organic. Douglas's price steps are between models instead: $200 from Original to Alpine and $300 from Alpine to Summit, in both its foam and hybrid lines.

Where Silk & Snow's own pages disagree, the table follows the product page's measurements and specifications. Its Hybrid copy says "Up to 1200" coils, while its specifications list 1,000 in queen and 1,204 in California king. Its S&S Mattress layer specifications give 2.5 lb memory foam in Firm and Medium-Firm and 4.0 lb only in Plush, although other Silk & Snow pages have described 4 lb memory foam for the model as a whole.

Which Douglas mattress matches which Silk & Snow mattress?

At listed queen prices on September 25, 2026, the closest pairs are the Douglas Original against the S&S Mattress in all-foam, and the Douglas Original Hybrid against the S&S Hybrid. Douglas's Alpine Hybrid and Summit Hybrid are priced near Silk & Snow's softer Hybrids, and the S&S Organic has no Douglas counterpart.

All-foam: Douglas Original vs S&S Mattress. Douglas lists the Original as a 10-inch, three-layer foam mattress: 2 inches of ecoLight cooling gel foam and 2 inches of Elastex foam over 6 inches of support foam, under a removable, machine-washable cover. Silk & Snow's S&S Mattress changes with firmness. The Firm is 9 inches, with 1.5 inches of gel memory foam over 7.5 inches of base foam; the Medium-Firm (10 inches) and Plush (12 inches) add a 2-inch transitional foam layer under 2 inches of gel memory foam. Its cover is removable with a 360-degree zipper and machine washable. In queen the Firm S&S Mattress ($775) is $24 below the Douglas Original ($799), and the Medium-Firm ($875) is $76 above it.

Douglas's upper foam models, the Alpine (11 inches, $999 in queen) and Summit (12 inches, $1,299), have thicker comfort layers. Silk & Snow has no second foam model; its Plush S&S Mattress ($1,145) sits between the Alpine and the Summit on price.

Hybrid: Douglas Original Hybrid vs S&S Hybrid. Both put foam over pocket coils. Douglas lists the Original Hybrid at 12 inches: 2 inches of ecoLift cooling gel foam and 1 inch of Elastex foam over 8-inch Exoforge pocketed coils with edge support foam and 1 inch of base foam. It gives 1,190 coils in queen and says the coil unit is "firmer under the hips and softer under the shoulders". The S&S Hybrid uses 9-inch pocket coils (8-inch on the Plush), 1,000 in queen, with what Silk & Snow calls a "Firmer middle zone of coils" and a firm edge. Its top layers change with firmness, from 2 inches of foam on the Firm to 5 inches of memory and transition foam on the Plush.

In queen the Douglas Original Hybrid ($949) is $61 below the Firm S&S Hybrid ($1,010) and $231 below the Medium-Firm ($1,180). One practical difference: every Douglas model has a removable, washable top cover, while Silk & Snow says its Hybrid's cover is "not removable".

Higher Douglas hybrids vs the softer S&S Hybrids. The Douglas Alpine Hybrid (13 inches, $1,149 in queen) has thicker comfort layers than the Original Hybrid and is $31 below the Medium-Firm S&S Hybrid ($1,180). The Summit Hybrid (14 inches, $1,449), which Douglas describes as "Medium-firm with a plusher top", is $46 below the Plush S&S Hybrid ($1,495). All three Douglas hybrids use the same 8-inch coil unit with the same queen coil count.

Latex: the S&S Organic has no Douglas equivalent. Silk & Snow's S&S Organic puts a 1-inch wool quilt and Dunlop latex over pocket coils: 0.8 inches of latex on the Firm, 0.8 plus 1.5 inches on the Medium-Firm and 0.8 plus 3.5 inches on the Plush, at 10, 12 and 14 inches tall. Silk & Snow describes "soft coils on the outer thirds and firmer coils on the middle third", with 999 coils in queen, and lists certifications for its latex, cotton and wool, which are its own claims. Douglas's mattress range has no latex model. It describes its Elastex foam as latex-like, but Elastex is a foam. How latex and foam hybrids differ in general is covered in our latex hybrid vs foam hybrid guide.

How much are Douglas and Silk & Snow all-foam mattresses in each size?

At listed prices on September 25, 2026, the Firm S&S Mattress cost $9 to $29 less than the Douglas Original from twin to king, and $6 more in California king.

S&S Mattress, Plush $850 $915 $995 $1,145 $1,395

California king: Douglas lists each foam model at its king price. Silk & Snow lists the S&S Mattress at $905 Firm, $1,035 Medium-Firm and $1,450 Plush.

Douglas labels its 53 x 75 inch size Full/Double; Silk & Snow's size selector says Full, and it lists that size at 54 x 75 inches. Douglas also sells a split king in every model, which is not priced here.

How much are the hybrid and latex models in each size?

At listed prices on September 25, 2026, the Douglas Original Hybrid cost less than the Firm S&S Hybrid in every size, by $31 in twin up to $216 in California king.

Hamuq Organic Hybrid (sold by Hamuq), one feel $1,249 $1,589 $1,799 $1,999 $2,499

California king: Douglas lists each hybrid at its king price. Silk & Snow lists the S&S Hybrid at $1,265, $1,475 and $1,815, and the S&S Organic at $1,715, $2,040 and $2,650 (Firm, Medium-Firm and Plush). Hamuq lists its Original Hybrid California king at $1,189, shown as out of stock on September 25, 2026; the Organic Hybrid is not offered in California king.

The shading marks Hamuq's own mattresses, because Hamuq publishes this guide.

Listed price or promotion price: what offers were running?

Douglas did not discount any mattress on September 25, 2026, and adds free bedding instead; Silk & Snow let buyers take 15% off the mattress in place of its free bundle. The tables above use listed prices, so check your cart total on the day you order.

  • Douglas says on its price promise page that "we never put our mattresses on sale". Its promotion page gives a free Comfort Sleep Bundle + Duvet Set with a mattress purchase: 2 pillows, 2 pillow protectors, a mattress protector, a cotton sheet set, a duvet and a duvet cover. Smaller sizes get a reduced bundle, and the page also offers an upgrade to a Premium Sleep Bundle + Duvet Set for $149.
  • Silk & Snow ran a "Flash Sale: 15% Off All Mattresses" across its site, including its sale page, with no end date stated. On its product pages it is an either-or choice: "Don't want the sleep bundle?" then "15% off your mattress instead". The 15% option was pre-selected on the S&S Mattress and S&S Hybrid pages; applied to the listed queen prices it gives $658.75, $743.75 and $973.25 for the S&S Mattress, and $858.50, $1,003 and $1,270.75 for the S&S Hybrid (Firm, Medium-Firm and Plush). The alternative is a free Classic Sleep Bundle.
  • The S&S Organic page offers the same choice but displayed no sale price. Silk & Snow's fine print limits the free Classic Sleep Bundle to the S&S Mattress and S&S Hybrid, although its Organic page shows "Free Sleep Bundle Included".

A free bundle does not lower the price of the mattress, and it can cost you on a return: Silk & Snow deducts some or all of the value of free items you keep, as the trial section explains. Douglas's promotion terms say its General Return Policy applies, and we found no Douglas statement on what happens to the free bundle if the mattress goes back. Our guide on when mattresses go on sale in Canada explains how to check whether a discount is real.

Firmness: does Douglas or Silk & Snow give you more choice?

Silk & Snow does. Douglas sells one feel, medium-firm, in all six models; Silk & Snow sells Firm, Medium-Firm and Plush in all three. The two brands rate firmness on different scales, so their numbers cannot be compared directly.

Douglas. Its compare page says "All six Douglas mattresses have the same 'medium-firm' feel", and its FAQ lists a "Medium-firm feel (6.5)" without naming the scale. The hybrid pages vary the wording: "A true medium-firm feel" for the Original Hybrid, "A medium-firm feel with enhanced cushioning" for the Alpine Hybrid, and "Medium-firm with a plusher top" for the Summit Hybrid.

Silk & Snow. It rates each level on its own 8-point scale. The S&S Mattress is 7/8 in Firm, 6/8 in Medium-Firm and 4/8 in Plush; the S&S Hybrid and S&S Organic are 7/8, 5/8 and 3/8. So the same "Medium-Firm" label is a 6 on Silk & Snow's foam mattress and a 5 on its Hybrid and Organic.

These are each brand's own ratings, not measurements. If you are unsure which level suits you, our firmness chart by sleep position and body weight (which uses a 1 to 10 scale, not Silk & Snow's 8-point one) and our guide to medium-firm vs firm mattresses set out the usual starting points. Choose carefully at Silk & Snow: its trial rules, below, limit a second try at the same model. If you have back, hip or shoulder pain, talk to a doctor or physiotherapist rather than relying on a brand's firmness label.

How do the Douglas and Silk & Snow trials differ?

Both give 365 nights from delivery. The differences are the wait before an opened mattress can go back, how a return works, and what happens if you want to try a second mattress. Douglas's terms are on its sleep trial and returns pages; Silk & Snow's are in its terms and conditions and its help centre's return and exchange policy.

Mattress trial and return terms, quoted or closely paraphrased from each brand's Canadian pages read on September 25, 2026. Table 4 of 5.
Term Douglas Silk & Snow
Trial length 365 nights from delivery 365 nights from delivery

Unopened or boxed mattress Returnable within 14 days of delivery Free returns if in its original box
Starting a return Upload photos for approval, or email Email your order number; offer 3 business days for pickup within two weeks
Pickup Free, no restocking fee; mattress wrapped for pickup Free; mattress on the ground floor near the entrance, with the law tag attached
Condition Should be "in good condition" Must be in "donatable condition"
Refund Within 2 business days after pickup, to the original payment method Within two business days of receipt, to the original payment method
A second trial One trial per household across GoodMorning.com brands; may be refused after a return None on a product type you have returned; at most two returns of each product
Free items you keep Not stated Deducted from the refund; the amount differs by page

Second tries. Douglas's return policy gives each household, identified by name, address and payment method, one trial "across all GoodMorning.com mattress brands, including Douglas, Juno, Logan & Cove, and Octave", and says Douglas may refuse a new trial if a previous product was returned. Silk & Snow's terms say that once a product type is returned, that customer or shipping address is not eligible for additional trial periods on that product, and its help centre adds that an exchange for "the same mattress type" is not returnable, while a different type gets its own trial. Neither page says whether a different firmness of the same Silk & Snow model counts as the same type.

Free items. Silk & Snow's pages give three versions of the deduction for unreturned free items: 50% of the promotional item's value (terms, return conditions), the full retail value (terms, offer codes) and a "discounted price" with no figure (help centre).

Refunds and costs. Douglas says a refund can take a further 2 to 5 business days to appear, and that "Additional charges may apply" for pickups from remote locations or a mattress moved from the delivery address. Silk & Snow says a refund can take up to 14 business days to appear, and its help centre lists shipping fees, in-home delivery and setup fees, and shipping surcharges as non-refundable.

Where each brand's pages disagree: Silk & Snow's FAQ page still says 100 nights, while its terms, site banner and help centre say 365; the terms give 100 nights only to mattresses bought before May 14, 2024, and this guide follows the terms. Douglas's sleep trial page says 21 nights and its returns page says 21 days.

How do the Douglas and Silk & Snow warranties differ?

Both brands give a 15-year limited warranty with full cover for a repair or replacement in years 1 to 10. Douglas's warranty is issued by GoodMorning.com Inc. In years 11 to 15 it says GoodMorning.com "shall bear 75% of the cost of repair or replacement", while Silk & Snow's warranty repairs or replaces "at a cost of 75% of the original purchase price".

Mattress warranty and bed base terms, quoted or closely paraphrased from each brand's Canadian pages read on September 25, 2026. Table 5 of 5.
Term Douglas (GoodMorning.com) Silk & Snow
Length 15-year limited, for products delivered on or after April 27, 2026 15-year limited, from delivery
Years 1 to 10 GoodMorning.com bears the full cost of repair or replacement Repair or replacement "at no additional cost"
Years 11 to 15 GoodMorning.com bears 75% of the cost You pay 75% of the original purchase price
Shipping a defective mattress under a claim GoodMorning.com arranges it You pay to surrender the original
Sagging covered Deeper than 2 in Deeper than 1 in or 2 in, depending on the model
Unpacking deadline Within two weeks of delivery Open within 30 days of receipt
Who is covered Original purchaser, buying direct; not transferable Original purchaser; not transferable
Box spring Not needed; Douglas's FAQ says a box spring voids the warranty Not with the S&S Mattress; its help centre allows a rigid box spring with the Hybrid and Organic
Slats At least 2 in wide, no more than 3 in apart; centre beam from queen up Centre support beam required for wider sizes; no wired metal frames

Reading years 11 to 15. Douglas's text says what GoodMorning.com pays, 75% of the cost of the repair or replacement, and does not spell out the owner's share. Silk & Snow's text says what the owner pays, 75% of the original purchase price. Neither page uses the word "prorated". At Silk & Snow, no new warranty is provided on a replacement. How warranty claims work in general is covered in our mattress warranty guide.

Other conditions. Douglas's warranty asks for a frame with at least 5 legs in queen, king and California king, and rules out floors prone to moisture, such as concrete or basements; its FAQ says the floor is otherwise acceptable, though not ideal. Silk & Snow rules out bed frames and adjustable bases made of wired metal, and concrete, basement or humid floors; its foundations article is the source for the box spring rule. Silk & Snow's warranty excludes damage from relocation and from any cleaning other than spot cleaning, and its trial and warranty are void once the mattress leaves the country where it was bought. What a hybrid needs underneath it is covered in what bed frame a hybrid mattress needs.

Where each brand's pages disagree: Silk & Snow's warranty names three models, the S&S Mattress, S&S Hybrid and S&S Organic, but gives two sag depths, "more than 1 inches and 2 inches respectively", so it does not say plainly which figure applies to the Organic. The same warranty says Silk & Snow "will not charge the purchaser to repair or replace" a defective mattress "Except as otherwise provided herein", alongside the 75% charge for years 11 to 15, and says its mattresses are designed for "non-spring foundations", while its help centre allows a rigid box spring under the Hybrid and Organic. Douglas's warranty page applies a 20-year warranty only to mattresses delivered between May 2, 2023 and April 26, 2026.

How do shipping and delivery compare?

Both brands ship free to the provinces and charge extra for the Territories. Douglas also charges for listed remote postal codes, and sells and ships only within Canada.

Douglas. Its shipping page says shipping is free on all products, with a per-order fee for the Canadian Territories and certain remote areas, which it lists by postal code prefix. Its product pages say each mattress ships within 1 to 7 business days, and its FAQ estimates delivery after shipping at 1 to 2 business days in Ontario, 2 to 4 in Quebec and Manitoba, 3 to 5 in Saskatchewan, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island, and 4 to 6 in Alberta, British Columbia, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. The FAQ says its delivery partners cannot take away an old mattress or set up the new one.

Silk & Snow. Its help centre offers free shipping to all provinces and adds "a non-refundable nominal shipping charge" for the Territories, with no amount given. It estimates 2 to 4 business days to process an order, then 1 to 3 business days in transit to Ontario, 2 to 4 to Manitoba and Quebec, 4 to 6 to Alberta, Saskatchewan, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island, 5 to 6 to British Columbia, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador, and 7 to 9 to the Territories. Its FAQ page says 1 to 3 business days to process. We found no old-mattress removal service on the Silk & Snow pages we read. What happens between ordering and unboxing is covered in our mattress delivery guide.

By sleeper, with the basis stated

Douglas or Silk & Snow: which fits which sleeper?

By the brands' own descriptions, Silk & Snow points back and stomach sleepers to its Firm level and side sleepers to its Plush level, on all three models. Douglas sells one medium-firm feel, which it describes as suited to all sleeping positions on its foam Original and to back, side and combination sleepers on its Original Hybrid. Each route below rests on a brand's description or a listed queen price on September 25, 2026, and says what it gives up; brand descriptions are not test results.

If the listed price comes first

In all-foam, the Firm S&S Mattress is the lowest listed queen from either brand at $775, with the Douglas Original at $799. In hybrids, the Douglas Original Hybrid is the lower listed queen at $949, against $1,010 for the Firm S&S Hybrid.

Where it falls short: the $775 price is for Firm only (Medium-Firm is $875), in a 9-inch mattress with 1.5 inches of memory foam, and the Douglas prices come with no firmness choice. Silk & Snow's 15% option gives lower prices for its Firm queens ($658.75 and $858.50), but only in place of its free bundle and with no stated end date.

If you sleep on your back or stomach and want a firm surface

Only Silk & Snow sells a model labelled Firm. It recommends the Firm S&S Mattress ($775 in queen) "for sleepers with big bodies, back and stomach sleepers", and describes the Firm S&S Hybrid ($1,010) as for back sleepers who prefer a firm, supportive feel; its firmness selector adds stomach sleepers. Douglas's one feel is medium-firm, and it describes its foam Original as suited to all sleeping positions.

Where it falls short: the firmness ratings are Silk & Snow's own. If Firm turns out wrong, its help centre says an exchange for the same mattress type is not returnable, and it does not say whether another firmness of the same model counts as a different type.

If you sleep on your side and want more cushioning

Silk & Snow points side sleepers to its softer levels: the Plush S&S Mattress ($1,145 in queen), the Plush S&S Hybrid ($1,495) and the Plush S&S Organic ($2,250). Douglas calls its Summit Hybrid ($1,449) "Ideal for side sleepers, combo sleepers" and describes the Original Hybrid ($949) as for back, side and combination sleepers.

Where it falls short: at Silk & Snow, Plush costs $370 to $850 more than the same model in Firm, and Douglas still describes the Summit Hybrid as medium-firm, with a plusher top.

If you sleep in more than one position, or are unsure

Douglas describes the Original Hybrid ($949 in queen) as "Perfect for back, side, and combination sleepers". Silk & Snow recommends the Medium-Firm S&S Mattress ($875) for side, back and combo sleepers, and its firmness selector describes the Medium-Firm S&S Hybrid ($1,180) as "For stomach, back, and combo sleepers all around".

Where it falls short: each brand's "medium-firm" is its own label on its own scale, so the two may not feel alike, and the Medium-Firm S&S Hybrid costs $231 more than the Douglas Original Hybrid in queen. Both trials make you wait before an opened mattress can go back: 21 nights at Douglas, 30 at Silk & Snow.

If you are a heavier sleeper

Silk & Snow's help centre says the S&S Mattress is designed to support up to 300 lbs per individual and the S&S Hybrid up to 500 lbs per individual, that the S&S Organic has no weight limit, and it points heavier sleepers to its coil models. Douglas's FAQ gives a weight limit of 250 lb per person and 500 lb in total for all Douglas mattresses.

Where it falls short: these are the brands' own statements, not test results, and they are set out on different bases. Silk & Snow's coil models start at $1,010 (S&S Hybrid, Firm) and $1,400 (S&S Organic, Firm) in queen.

If you want latex

Of these two brands, only Silk & Snow sells latex: the S&S Organic, with Dunlop latex and a wool quilt over pocket coils, at $1,400 Firm, $1,700 Medium-Firm and $2,250 Plush in queen. Douglas lists no latex model.

Where it falls short: in queen it costs more than the S&S Hybrid in every firmness, and its Plush, at $2,250, is the highest listed queen from either brand. On September 25, 2026 its page showed no sale price, and Silk & Snow's fine print left it out of the free bundle offer.

What should you check before you order either brand?

  1. Price the exact size and firmness. At Silk & Snow the same model costs up to $850 more in Plush than in Firm in queen, so a "from" price may not be your price.
  2. Decide between the bundle and 15% off at Silk & Snow. They are alternatives, not both, and a kept free item is deducted if the mattress goes back.
  3. Check your base. Douglas says a box spring voids its warranty; Silk & Snow allows a rigid box spring only under its Hybrid and Organic. Both want a centre support beam from queen up.
  4. Diary the trial dates. Night 21 at Douglas and night 30 at Silk & Snow are the earliest returns for an opened mattress; night 365 is the last at both.
  5. Assume one try. Douglas allows one trial per household across GoodMorning.com brands; Silk & Snow gives no second trial on a returned product type.
  6. Keep the law tag and packaging notes. Silk & Snow requires the law tag for a return, and both warranties require the mattress to be unpacked within a set time.

Hamuq product context

Where a Hamuq mattress fits next to Douglas and Silk & Snow

At listed queen prices on September 25, 2026, the Hamuq Original Hybrid ($999) sat between the Douglas Original Hybrid ($949) and the Firm S&S Hybrid ($1,010), and the Hamuq Organic Hybrid ($1,999) between the Medium-Firm ($1,700) and Plush ($2,250) S&S Organic. Hamuq publishes this guide and sells these two hybrid mattresses, each in one feel.

Hamuq Original Hybrid, $999 in queen. Hamuq's product page calls it medium-firm, 6/10 on its firmness scale. Hamuq's FAQ lists a 1-inch quilted pillow top, 2 inches of Cloud Tech foam and half an inch of gel foam over a 9-inch core of individually wrapped pocket coils, 12 inches in all. Its price falls between the same two competitors in double/full and king as well, but not in twin or twin XL, where Hamuq's $799 and $879 are above both.

Hamuq Organic Hybrid, $1,999 in queen. Hamuq's FAQ lists an organic cotton cover, a wool quilt layer, a natural latex layer and a microcoil layer over a pocket coil base, and Hamuq describes it as firmer than the Original Hybrid. It costs more than the S&S Organic in Firm ($1,400) and Medium-Firm ($1,700), and less than its Plush ($2,250).

Terms for both. Hamuq's trial runs 120 nights from delivery, with at least 30 nights before a return, and covers mattresses and bed frames. A returned mattress has to be in donatable condition; a courier picks it up, and Hamuq refunds the original payment method. The 15-year limited warranty is not transferable and covers visible indentations greater than 1 inch; Hamuq offers a one-time repair or replacement, and you do not pay shipping to send a mattress back under a claim. The warranty says the mattress is designed for "a firm, solid-surface" base, while Hamuq's FAQ lists a box spring, slatted frame, platform or adjustable bed. Shipping is free, with possible charges for the Canadian Territories.

Where others offer more. Douglas and Silk & Snow both give 365 nights to Hamuq's 120, and Douglas takes an opened mattress back from night 21. Silk & Snow offers three firmness levels per model, where each Hamuq model has one. At listed prices, the Douglas Original Hybrid is $50 below the Hamuq Original Hybrid in queen, and the Douglas Original ($799) and the S&S Mattress in Firm ($775) and Medium-Firm ($875) cost less than either Hamuq queen. With Silk & Snow's 15% option in place of its bundle, the Firm S&S Hybrid queen comes to $858.50, below the Hamuq Original Hybrid's $999. We found no limit on the number of claims in the Douglas or Silk & Snow mattress warranty, while Hamuq's offers a one-time repair or replacement. Buyer questions

Douglas vs Silk & Snow FAQs

Prices and models

Which is cheaper in queen, Douglas or Silk & Snow?

Quick answer: It depends on the model and firmness. At listed prices on September 25, 2026, the lowest queen from either brand was Silk & Snow's all-foam S&S Mattress in Firm at $775, $24 below the Douglas Original at $799; the Medium-Firm S&S Mattress was $875. In hybrids, the Douglas Original Hybrid at $949 was $61 below the Firm S&S Hybrid at $1,010. Silk & Snow's 15% offer, taken in place of its free bundle, brings those two Firm queens to $658.75 and $858.50. Douglas says it never puts its mattresses on sale.

How does the Douglas Original Hybrid compare with the Silk & Snow Hybrid?

Quick answer: Both put foam over pocket coils and come with a 365-night trial and a 15-year limited warranty. The Douglas Original Hybrid is 12 inches, with 8-inch coils, one medium-firm feel and a removable, washable cover, at $949 in queen. The Silk & Snow Hybrid is 11, 12 or 14 inches by firmness, with 9-inch coils (8-inch on the Plush) and a cover that is not removable, at $1,010 Firm, $1,180 Medium-Firm and $1,495 Plush in queen.

Does Douglas sell a latex mattress like the Silk & Snow Organic?

Quick answer: No. Douglas lists three all-foam mattresses, three hybrids and RV versions of its foam models, and none is a latex mattress; its Elastex foam is described as latex-like but is a foam. Silk & Snow's S&S Organic puts Dunlop latex over pocket coils at $1,400 Firm, $1,700 Medium-Firm and $2,250 Plush in queen.

Firmness and fit

Which has more firmness choice, Douglas or Silk & Snow?

Quick answer: Silk & Snow. It sells each of its three models in Firm, Medium-Firm and Plush, rated on its own 8-point scale, and charges more for each softer level. Douglas sells all six models in one medium-firm feel; its hybrids differ in the thickness of their comfort layers.

Which suits side sleepers, according to Douglas and Silk & Snow?

Quick answer: By the brands' own descriptions, Douglas calls its Summit Hybrid ($1,449 in queen) ideal for side and combination sleepers, and describes the Original Hybrid ($949) as for back, side and combination sleepers. Silk & Snow points side sleepers to its Plush levels, from $1,145 (S&S Mattress) to $2,250 (S&S Organic) in queen. These are brand descriptions, not test results.

Trials, warranty and ownership

How do the Douglas and Silk & Snow trials differ?

Quick answer: Both run 365 nights from delivery. Douglas takes an opened mattress back from night 21; Silk & Snow asks for 30 nights first. Douglas allows one trial per household across GoodMorning.com's mattress brands. Silk & Snow gives no further trial on a product type you have returned, and deducts some or all of the value of free items you keep.

How do the Douglas and Silk & Snow warranties differ?

Quick answer: Both are 15-year limited warranties that cover a repair or replacement in full for the first 10 years. In years 11 to 15, Douglas's warranty says GoodMorning.com bears 75% of the cost, while Silk & Snow's charges 75% of the original purchase price. At Silk & Snow you pay the shipping to surrender the original mattress; at Douglas, GoodMorning.com arranges it.

Are Douglas and Silk & Snow the same company?

Quick answer: No. Douglas's Terms of Use name GoodMorning.com Inc. as the owner and operator of douglas.ca, and its return policy lists GoodMorning.com's mattress brands as Douglas, Juno, Logan & Cove and Octave. Silk & Snow's terms say its site is operated by Silk & Snow Inc., a Toronto, Ontario corporation. Our map of who owns Canada's mattress brands has more detail.

How we know this

Every Douglas and Silk & Snow price in this guide was re-read on September 25, 2026 from each brand's own Canadian website, using the size and firmness price data behind each product page, and compared with our September 24 reading; no listed price had changed. Heights, layers and coil counts come from the same product pages. Trial, return, warranty, bed base and shipping terms come from each brand's terms, warranty, FAQ, shipping and help centre pages read the same day, and Hamuq's figures from its own product and policy pages. Silk & Snow's 15% prices are the listed price less 15%, which matched the prices its product pages displayed.

Review sites, star ratings, retailer listings and search snippets were not used. Nor was Douglas's own comparison page for these two brands, because its firmness and performance figures come from testing commissioned by GoodMorning.com. Where a brand's own pages disagree, we say so next to the figure and follow its terms, warranty or product specifications. RV mattresses and Silk & Snow's toppers are left out. Prices and offers change, so confirm them on the brand's own page before ordering.
