All three stores tell you that a new mattress takes time to get used to, and all three set the same 21-night floor before you can swap. After that, the details diverge.
Sleep Country: one exchange, $99 fee
Sleep Country's 100 Night Comfort Guarantee page says you can "exchange it up to 100 nights after receiving it at home". It adds that "we do not accept exchanges or returns under the Comfort Guarantee earlier than 21 nights after your purchase", and that "One (1) Comfort Guarantee exchange is available per mattress purchase with a $99 exchange fee plus the cost difference" of the replacement. Its returns page describes the same arrangement as a "100-night trial for all of our mattresses" after which "we'll exchange it for something you'll love". The Brick: one reselection, delivery charged again
The Brick's Satisfaction Guarantee page offers "a one-time reselection to a new mattress set within 90 days of pick up or delivery", or "up to 180 days" if you bought a mattress protector with the set. It asks you to "sleep on your new mattress set for 21 days prior to reselecting", says "Delivery charges apply to all mattress set reselections", and if your new choice costs less, "we'll hold the difference for you as in-store credit". The guarantee "only applies to mattresses or mattress and boxspring sets when purchased together", and it is void "If the mattress is soiled or damaged". Leon's: one exchange, and a required cover
Leon's Sleep Tight Comfort Guarantee runs "for a full 100 nights from the date you receive your new mattress". Its terms say "The purchase of a mattress set must be accompanied by the purchase and use of a 'Leon's Platinum Sleep Care' mattress cover of the same size as the mattress", that "You must keep your new mattress for a minimum of 21 days", and that the guarantee "allows you a one-time exchange of your mattress set for a model of equivalent or greater dollar value. You are responsible to pay any dollar difference and applicable taxes." Unlike The Brick, Leon's does not describe a swap to a cheaper model. Returning a mattress you have not used
The comfort guarantees cover a mattress you have slept on. A mattress that stays sealed is treated differently, and only two of the three stores' pages we read described it:
- Sleep Country: "For eligible purchases, you have 30 days from your date of delivery or in-store purchase to make an exchange or return", with items "unopened and unused" and your receipt. It does not accept returns on "large items (such as headboards and bedframes), with the exception of mattresses and box springs."
- The Brick: "If your product is still in its original sealed packaging, with the exception of As-Is products, special orders (MTO) or sleep accessories, we will return it for a full reselection credit or refund within 7 days of the original delivery or pickup."
- Leon's: the guarantee, delivery and price pages we read did not describe a return of an unused mattress. Ask the store before you buy.
